495 new cases of Omicron were reported in India, the total number reached 2,630

New DelhiThe Union Health Ministry said that the total number of Omicron cases in India has risen to 2,630 after 495 fresh cases were reported in the last 24 hours, with Maharashtra and Delhi being the worst affected. Overall, 995 people have recovered so far, the ministry said. This type has been detected so far in 26 states and union territories.

Maharashtra tops the list with 797 Omicron cases, of which 330 patients have been discharged. The state has recorded 144 new cases of Omicron in the last 24 hours.

With one case being detected in the last 24 hours, the total number of Omicron cases in Delhi has gone up to 465. However, 57 of them have recovered from the virus.

Rajasthan’s figure has gone up to 236 with 62 new cases.

Among other states, Kerala has reported 49 new cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number to 234. 58 of them have been discharged from the hospital.

149 new cases have been detected in Karnataka in the last 24 hours, taking the total number to 226.

Gujarat has recorded 50 new infections, where the number of cases has risen to 204. However, Tamil Nadu has 121 cases of this variant.

Telangana has also reported 10 more Omicron cases, taking the total to 94 with the new case, while Haryana and Odisha have reported 71 and 60 cases.

So far 31 cases of Omicron have been reported in Uttar Pradesh, while 28 and 20 cases have been reported in Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal.

So far, the new strain count in Madhya Pradesh (nine), Uttarakhand (eight), Goa (five), Meghalaya (four), Chandigarh (three) and Jammu and Kashmir (three) remains in single digits.

Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Assam, Puducherry and Punjab have reported two cases each, while Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh and Manipur have reported one case each.
