Delhi Education Department’s government land in CBI’s trap in corruption case

New Delhi | The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday said it has arrested Additional Director of Education Department Surendra Kumar Bhanduria here in a corruption case. A CBI spokesperson said that the agency has arrested Bhanduria, currently posted as Additional Director, SDMC, Additional Director, SDMC, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 2 lakh from the complainant.

The case was registered after a complaint was registered against Bhanduria, the official said.

It was alleged that the accused had demanded a bribe of Rs 20 lakh from the complainant in the FIR registered against him in lieu of being removed from the radar of all agencies including Court, Vigilance, ACB and GNCTD. The Financial Irregularities Department has filed a complaint under SDMC.

“The CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed taking a bribe of Rs 2 lakh as part payment,” the officer said.

He further said that the agency searched the official and residential premises of the officer in Delhi.
