New Delhi: Eleven charred bodies were recovered from a paint factory cum warehouse in Delhi’s Alipore area, where a massive fire broke out on the evening of February 15. The police gave this information on Friday.
The official said that the fire was so severe that it spread to nearby warehouses and shops.
The deceased have not been identified yet, while the injured have been identified as Jyoti (42), Divya (20), Mohit Solanki (34) and Delhi Police Constable Karambir.
The fire department official said the search operation is going on.
Delhi Fire Service (DFS) Director Atul Garg said a call regarding the fire was received at 5:26 pm.
Garg said, “22 fire tenders were sent to the spot, which managed to control the fire by 9 pm. The search operation is going on.”
Garg further said, ‘The fire engulfed two paint and chemical warehouses and eight shops.
“Till Friday morning, 11 bodies have so far been taken to Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital, while four injured have been taken to Raja Harishchandra Hospital.”
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer North) Ravi Kumar Singh said that a massive fire broke out in a paint factory in Nehru Enclave of Alipore on Thursday.
“On receiving the information, the police team reached the spot and found that the fire had spread to several other buildings including the neighboring ‘Nasha Mukti Kendra’, where 4-5 people were trapped in the fire,” the DCP said.
“Constable Karamvir risked his life and reached the top of the de-addiction center and managed to rescue the trapped people. He suffered multiple injuries, including burns, and has now been admitted to Safdarjung Hospital. Three injured people from a nearby building have been referred to LNJP Hospital, the official said.
DCP said that along with the fire department, NDRF also reached the spot and conducted a search operation in the burned buildings.
