New Delhi, October 6 The Delhi government has declared a public holiday for all government offices on Tuesday, October 7, to commemorate Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti. According to the order, all offices under the Delhi government will remain closed on Tuesday. This decision was taken keeping in mind social harmony and respect for the saint tradition.
Grand events, processions, and tribute meetings will be organized across the capital on the occasion of Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta herself will participate in these events.
Earlier, on Monday, October 6, a special program was organized at the Delhi Secretariat to commemorate Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also participated in the program. During the program, she paid homage to the social reformer Maharishi Valmiki and highlighted his philosophy of life.
He wrote on the social media platform X, “Today, I participated in the Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti Mahotsav held at the Delhi Secretariat and paid tribute to his inspiring thoughts based on social harmony, equality, and justice. Maharishi Valmiki inspired society to follow the path of equality, harmony, and righteousness.”
The Chief Minister said that Maharishi Valmiki’s immortal work, the Ramayana, is a beacon of life that illuminates the path of dignity, devotion, sacrifice, and righteousness in every era. Citing incidents like Shabari’s devotion, the squirrel’s contribution, and the boatman’s loyalty, he said that these examples demonstrate that every section of society deserves equal respect and participation.
The Chief Minister further stated that the Delhi government is also moving forward with this spirit of harmony and respect. He said that our government is committed to providing equal dignity to every religion, culture, and faith. From the Kanwar Yatra to Ramlila, Durga Puja, and now Valmiki Jayanti, we are celebrating every event with grandeur, reverence, and dedication.
Delhi government cabinet ministers Ravindra Inderraj Singh and Kapil Mishra, along with several MLAs and dignitaries, were present on the occasion.
