Delhi government announces weekend curfew, pass permission for essential services

New Delhi| Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday announced a weekend curfew to break the chain of the covid-19 epidemic in the national capital. For the past few days, there has been a spurt in corona cases. Keeping in mind the alarming rise in covid cases, Kejriwal announced the weekend curfew in the city in a virtual video conference. At the same time discounts have been provided for essential services and upcoming marriages. A provision has been made to give them some special passes to avoid panic.

Noting that the decision has been taken after a series of meetings held since morning. The decision was taken after a meeting with First Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal and then Health Minister, Chief Secretary, Health Secretary and other top officials.

Kejriwal said the weekend curfew has been implemented to break the chain of transmission of coronaviruses.

Kejriwal said, “It has been unanimously decided to impose a weekend curfew, as people usually go outside their homes for entertainment or other activities which can be curbed. The ban does not create much problem for the people Can. Its purpose is to break the chain of covid infection on weekends. ”

Kejriwal, however, clarified that essential services such as visits to hospitals, railway stations and airports will not be hampered. Also, marriages, which are pre-decided, will not face any kind of difficulties.

The Delhi Chief Minister said, “All such activities will be allowed to provide curfew passes. All such persons can apply for passes and these passes will be provided without disturbing them.”

Kejriwal further announced that during the ban, the mall, gym, spa, and auditorium would be closed and the cinema hall would be allowed to run with 30 percent capacity.

“There will be some special provisions for weekly markets to avoid congestion. An order will be issued soon regarding this move.”

As for the restaurant, Kejriwal said, “No one will be allowed to eat there, and only home delivery will be allowed.”

The steps were taken after more than 17,000 new cases of coronavirus were registered in Delhi.
