ED arrests RJD Rajya Sabha MP in fertilizer scam case

New Delhi| The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday morning arrested Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP A. D. Singh has been arrested in the fertilizer scam case.

Confirming to, a top ED official said, Singh has been arrested in the fertilizer scam case.

The RJD MP was arrested from his residence in south Delhi’s posh Defense Colony under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), the official said.

The case pertains to an alleged fertilizer scam involving IFFCO and India Potash Limited (IPL), in which the CBI had registered a corruption case last month.

CBI appoints IFFCO MD and CEO U. s. Along with Awasthi, Indian Potash Limited (IPL) MD Pravinder Singh Gehlot has also been nominated.

Along with this, the central probe agency has named Amol Awasthi and Anupam Awasthi, both sons of IFFCO MD and CEO. High officials of several other companies have been nominated in this alleged corruption case.

The RJD had nominated Singh to the Rajya Sabha in March last year.

According to Singh’s election affidavit, he is a graduate of Delhi’s Kirori Mal College and is unmarried.

His immovable assets are Rs 188.57 crore and his movable assets are Rs 49.6 crore. They have land, apartments and offices in Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana and Mumbai. His income tax return for the financial year 2019-20 was over Rs 24 crore, the affidavit said.

Singh has also been involved in the export and import of fertilizers.
