New Delhi, 22 March. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) team has arrested Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a case of alleged liquor policy scam after questioning and searching him at his official residence on Thursday evening and brought him to its office on Abdul Kalam Road on A.P.J. .
The ED team brought the CM from his residence to the office of the financial investigation agency at 11 pm. A large number of police personnel have been deployed around the agency’s office and barricades have been installed around it. Prohibitory orders have also been imposed in the entire area.
A source said, “Kejriwal will remain in the ED lockup tonight. The investigators may interrogate him (Kejriwal) further. After medical examination, he will be produced in the court on Friday.”
According to sources, the ED legal team is also preparing a remand application to be presented in court to get Kejriwal’s custody.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister’s arrest came hours after the Delhi High Court rejected Kejriwal’s plea seeking protection from ‘coercive action’.
The investigating agency had repeatedly sent summons to him, but he was not appearing. He has not yet received any relief even from the Supreme Court.
In this alleged scam, till now BRS MLA K. Kejriwal’s turn came after Kavita, former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and AAP RS member Sanjay Singh, among others, were arrested.
