JAMMU| An encounter between militants and security forces began in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Sunday. During the encounter, two terrorists were shot dead and one of their accomplices was arrested. The encounter took place after the security forces laid siege and launched a search operation based on specific information about the presence of militants in the Durgan area of Poonch.
According to police, “Two militants were killed and one of their accomplices was arrested in a joint operation of police, army and CRPF in Poshna area of Poonch district.”
Sources said that a group of militants had recently infiltrated from Pakistan and came to Shopian district of South Kashmir.
Sources also said that the group consists of two Pakistanis and a local terrorist.
According to sources, this is an attempt by Pakistan to send terrorists to disrupt the ongoing District Development Council elections in Kashmir.
