France: PM Modi meets Estonian President, discusses cyber security cooperation

Paris, Feb. 11  Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Estonian President Alar Karis met on Tuesday on the sidelines of the AI ​​Action Summit in Paris. The two leaders discussed ongoing bilateral cooperation in the field of cyber security.

In their first meeting, the two leaders emphasised that the friendly relations between India and Estonia are based on the shared commitment of both countries to the values ​​of democracy, freedom, pluralism.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) after the meeting, the two leaders expressed satisfaction over the growing bilateral cooperation in various fields, including trade, investment, IT, culture, tourism and people-to-people ties.

Prime Minister Modi invited the Estonian government and companies to take advantage of programmes such as ‘Digital India’.

The statement elaborated, “The two leaders also exchanged views on regional, global issues of mutual interest and cooperation in the United Nations.”

Prime Minister Modi and the President of Estonia expressed satisfaction at the growing cultural and people-to-people ties between the two countries. “In this regard, the Prime Minister appreciated the popularity of Yoga in Estonia,” the PMO said.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his address during the ‘AI Action Summit’, stressed the importance of Artificial Intelligence (AI). He said that it can help transform the lives of millions of people by improving health, education, agriculture and many more things.

At the conference held at the Grand Palais in Paris, PM Modi said, “Governance also means ensuring access for all, especially in the Global South. AI can help transform the lives of millions of people by improving health, education, agriculture and many more things.”

The Prime Minister said, “AI can help create a world in which the journey towards development goals becomes easier and faster. To do this, we must bring together resources and talents. We must develop open-source systems that enhance trust and transparency. We must create quality data sets free from biases…”

PM Modi co-chaired the AI ​​Action Summit with French President Emmanuel Macron.
