Fulfilling PM Modi’s vision is my priority: Rekha Gupta

New Delhi, Feb 19 . Shalimar Bagh MLA Rekha Gupta will become the next Chief Minister of Delhi. Her name was approved in the BJP Legislature Party meeting on Wednesday. Delhi Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena will administer the oath of office and secrecy to her in a grand swearing-in ceremony at Ramlila Maidan on Thursday.

While talking to the media for the first time after being elected CM, she said, “I would like to thank the entire top leadership of BJP, PM Modi, the people of Delhi and my fellow MLAs. The party has given me a big responsibility. We all will work to make Delhi a better Delhi. Fulfilling the vision that PM Modi has given to the people of Delhi will be my priority. I want to thank PM Modi from the bottom of my heart that this honour is not just mine, but it is the honour of every mother and daughter of the country.”

Earlier, Rekha Gupta had written in a post on the social media platform X, “I express my heartfelt gratitude to all the top leadership for trusting me and entrusting me with the responsibility of the post of Chief Minister. This trust and support of yours has given me new energy and inspiration. I pledge that I will work with full honesty, integrity and dedication for the welfare, empowerment and overall development of every citizen of Delhi. I am fully committed to this important opportunity to take Delhi to new heights.”

Rekha Gupta has been elected MLA for the first time from Delhi’s Shalimar Bagh seat. She defeated AAP’s Bandana Kumari by a margin of 29,595 votes.

The results of the Delhi Assembly elections were declared on February 8. The BJP got a historic victory after 26 years. It won 48 out of 70 seats while the Aam Aadmi Party was reduced to 22.
