Georgia’s Tbilisi Akhmeteli Theatre left spectators spellbound in Hindu College

Georgia’s popular Tbilisi Akhmeteli State Drama Theatre left more than one thousand spectators spellbound in the Sanganeria auditorium in Hindu College, where they performed a stage play today. The masterpiece was enacted by four brilliant theatre actors in a very captivating and artistic way of expression.

The Chief Guest of the event and Vice-Chancellor of Delhi University Prof. Yogesh Singh said ‘The Delhi University has completed it’s hundred years and we are celebrating the joy, and achievements of it. This program organized in Hindu College has inspired so many teachers and students to share our culture and understand others. We have many collaborations with the universities and now we have reconstituted our cultural council, they will take steps in that direction and also in value added courses, we are introducing a good number of courses which will help us to create that kind of environment.’

On this occasion, Hindu College Principal Prof. Anju Srivastava said ‘We are glad that the students, teachers and non-teaching of our college and University of Delhi together witnessed the mesmerizing theatrical performances of the artists of Georgia. Hindu College has always celebrated the colorful and diverse culture of our country and has sought to learn from and integrate with cultures across the world. Artists are the primary ambassadors of culture, and it is an honor to host the Tbilisi Akhmeteli group, as a gesture for furthering the ties between India and Georgia. This cultural extravaganza is also so memorable because Delhi University celebrates its 100 years of educational journey and Hindu College is also a witness to it.’

At this theatre presentation, the Registrar of Delhi University, Dr. Vikas Gupta and more than a hundred distinguished faculty members of various Colleges were present. Vice Principal Prof. Reena Jain proposed a vote of thanks. This event was a joint collaboration of the Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR) and the University of Delhi.  A palm sapling was also planted by the Vice Chancellor of Univerity of Delhi on the sprawling lawns of the College on his first visit to the College.
