New Delhi | Hundreds of houses, hotels and other establishments have developed huge cracks due to the cracking of land in Joshimath, Uttarakhand. After this situation, the situation there remains worrying. The central government is monitoring the situation. An important meeting is being held on this subject in the Prime Minister’s Office on Sunday. Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Dr. P.K. Mishra is holding a high-level review meeting on the situation in Joshimath with the Cabinet Secretary and senior officials of the Government of India and members of the National Disaster Management Authority in the PMO on Sunday afternoon.
District officials of Joshimath are also present in the important meeting called by the Prime Minister’s Office on this major disaster in Uttarakhand. The District Magistrate of Joshimath present at Ground Zero is participating in this review meeting through video conference. Other senior officers of Uttarakhand will also attend the review meeting through video conference.
Joshimath’s roads, houses, offices, grounds, hotels, schools etc. have developed huge cracks due to land cracking. Due to this, these buildings have become unsafe to live in. In view of this, all the developmental activities in Joshimath have also been stopped. For example, the work of companies working for ropeway, water and electricity has been stopped. Other types of work have also been stopped here by the government.
On this situation, Union Minister of State for Defense Ajay Bhatt says that in such a case the situation remains a bit serious, there is also fear. The central government is monitoring this entire matter. The state government has shifted people with immediate effect. All their arrangements have been made which include food, water, medicine, doctor and all facilities. The Chief Minister has taken a meeting in this regard and has taken many major decisions. Our first duty is to take the affected people there to a safe place under any circumstances.
Geologists have gone to the spot in Joshimath. Geologists have continuously surveyed the area in the last 2 days. His report is coming soon. Local people are also meeting with him. These kinds of challenges come to the fore when a disaster strikes because most of all people have to move and it’s winter.
At the same time, an eight-member team of the Disaster Management Department has submitted its report to the government. The case of land subsidence in Joshimath has also reached the Supreme Court. A petition has been filed in this matter. The petition demanded that the affected people should be given financial assistance and their property should be insured.
