New Delhi : The Office of Alumni Relations of Hindu College celebrated the 100th birth anniversary of its esteemed alumnus, Late Shri Lalit Kumar Jain, with a special event honoring his contributions and legacy. As part of this commemoration, the college announced the establishment of the Lalit Kumar Jain Memorial Research Fellowship, a significant initiative aimed at advancing interdisciplinary research.
Speaking on the occasion, Hindu College Principal, Prof. Anju Srivastava, expressed her gratitude, stating, “The fellowship has been made possible through the generous support of Shri Subodh Kumar Jain, son of Late Shri Lalit Kumar Jain, who continues to uphold his father’s inspiring legacy. This fellowship is a tribute to a cherished alumnus whose vision and dedication have left an indelible mark on our institution. We are honored to partner with Shri Subodh Kumar Jain in fostering research and academic excellence.”
As part of the celebrations, the college awarded the Lalit Kumar Jain Memorial Research Fellowship to faculty members across seven interdisciplinary projects spanning Chemistry, Physics, Zoology, Environmental Science, Sociology, and Political Science. These projects, awarded for a duration of two years, will contribute to impactful research in their respective fields.
Addressing the gathering, Subodh Kumar Jain said, “During my interaction with the college Principal, Anju Srivastava, and various faculty members, I always observed their commitment to providing young minds with the best platform as they step into the world and to nurturing young minds like yours. It is well known that many alumni of the college are well-placed in society and have immensely contributed to nation-building. My late father, lovingly called Babuji by us, was also a student of this college—then located at Kashmiri Gate—and graduated in the year 1945. It was due to the teachings of this college that he was able to achieve great success in his life—outstanding success, I would say. He often shared his experiences with us and spoke highly of the teachers and professors, fondly recalling his days there,” he further added.
The event featured an inspiring online motivational speech by renowned inclusion expert and disability rights activist Sruti Mohapatra, who emphasized the importance of perseverance, inclusivity, and academic dedication.
The commemoration concluded with a mesmerizing musical concert, led by celebrated vocalist Vidya Shah, accompanied by an ensemble of distinguished musicians: Satish Solanki (percussion), Shanti Bhushan Jha (tabla), Dr. Ashique Kumar (harmonium), and Amit Bhatia (guitar). Their soulful renditions captivated the audience and added a cultural dimension to the heartfelt tribute.
The function was graced by the College Governing Chairman, T. C. A. Rangachari, member of the governing body, Prof. Ashok Mittal, and the family members of Late Shri Lalit Kumar Jain, including Shri Subodh Kumar Jain, owner of Siddho Mal Group, along with faculty members and students of Hindu College.
