Hindu College Showcases its Skill Development initiatives to Principals of over 90 CBSE Affiliated schools

Hindu College, a premier institution affiliated with the University of Delhi, continues to set benchmarks in higher education by fostering academic excellence and skill development. As part of its commitment to the holistic growth of students, the college recently hosted over 90 school principals from institutions affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The visit aimed to introduce them to vocational (skill-based) education in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

This pioneering initiative was designed to raise awareness about various skill development opportunities available to students, ensuring they are better prepared for real-world challenges and career opportunities. The NEP 2020 emphasizes integrating vocational training into mainstream education, enabling students to gain practical skills alongside theoretical knowledge. Hindu College, through its structured programs and facilities, is taking proactive steps to make this vision a reality.

During the visit, school principals had the opportunity to explore the college’s Skill Development Centre, which helps in equipping students with industry-relevant competencies. The centre offers training in diverse skill areas, empowering students to become job-ready and fostering an entrepreneurial mindset. The principals engaged in discussions with faculty members gaining insights into how vocational training can be effectively implemented at the school level.

Prof. Anju Srivastava, Principal of Hindu College, underscored the institution’s commitment to nurturing talent beyond academics. She remarked, “At Hindu College, we attract the brightest minds from across the country and are dedicated to their all-round development. Beyond academic excellence, we emphasize skill-building, hands-on learning, and research exposure to prepare our students for real-world challenges. Our skill development initiatives ensure that students graduate with not just knowledge but also practical expertise that makes them industry-ready and employable.”

The principals were given an exclusive tour of Hindu College’s state-of-the-art research and innovation facilities, which have been instrumental in fostering scientific advancements. Some of the key centres showcased included Green Chemistry Network Centre, Centre for Environmental Studies, Synthesis Laboratory & Distillation Plant, Life Sciences Research Laboratory, Material Synthesis Laboratory. They also visited Fragrances and flavours laboratory, Polymer Laboratory, Material Characterization Laboratory, e-waste reuse and recycle laboratory, design and innovation laboratory and academia industry collaboration strategy laboratory. They also visited Multimedia studio. The college also highlighted its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. These efforts reflect Hindu College’s broader vision of education as a tool for societal transformation.

The interaction between Hindu College and the visiting school principals paved the way for future collaborations, encouraging schools to integrate skill-based learning into their curricula. By fostering dialogue between higher education institutions and school leadership, this initiative aimed to create a seamless transition for students from school to college, ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in an evolving job market.
