New Delhi: In a grand celebration, Hindu College celebrates its rich history and legacy with a spectacular gala on its 125th Founder’s Day. The Chief Guest, the Hon’ble Vice President of India and Chancellor of Delhi University, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, graced the occasion. He laid the foundation stone for the Boys’ Hostel and planted a tree in the college’s front lawns.
Shri Dhankhar, in his enlightening address, said, ‘This institution has been a witness to the freedom struggle and has contributed to it. This institution has witnessed the securing of independence, and it has played a role in nurturing independence through its alumni. Now is the time to blossom independence. You are here. Therefore, this institute is the right platform for me to be here on this day. What an occasion for me, what an honor for me that I am here in absolute delight associated with the 125th Foundation Day of Hindu College. It has a rich legacy of serving the nation and blossoming nationalism.’
For far too long, in a nation with such civilizational depth, the system remained plagued with corruption and patronage. Corruption and patronage are the worst killers of young minds, antithetical to merit and stability. Young people hate it because they feel cheated by corruption, nepotism, and favoritism. Now, boys and girls, there is a big change, a sea change, a change for the better. He further said.
He urged the students that ‘respect for the law is respect for nationalism, democracy, meritocracy, and curbing corruption!’
On this occasion, a Coffee Table Book titled ‘Viraasat’, a compendium titled ‘Memories of Another Day – Sansmarnon Main Hindu,’ collections of old articles of Indraprastha Magazine- ‘Dharohar’ and a commemorative coin were unveiled by the Chief Guest.

Ihan Mehra, Chairman & Director of Jaquar Group, were bestowed the ‘Sarthak Saaman’ by the Chief Guest. The momentous occasion also saw Shri Dhankhar award prizes to Hindu College students who secured gold medals at the University of Delhi. These include Atavika Chandan, Bhawani Chauhan, Monika, Garima Singh, Chandranshu Jain, Mohd. Aquib Khan, Atlanta Choudhury, and Deepak Kumar.
Principal Prof. Anju Srivastava expressed the college’s commitment to academic excellence and holistic development, showcasing how it has shaped the nation’s intellectual landscape since its inception in 1899.
Prof. Yogesh Singh, Vice-Chancellor, University of Delhi, graced the event as the Guest of Honour, along with Sh. TCA Rangachari, Chairman, Governing Body, Hindu College.
