New Delhi, July 21 . The monsoon session of the Lok Sabha witnessed repeated disruptions on Monday. The opposition raised slogans demanding an immediate discussion on Operation Sindoor and the Pahalgam terror attack. Due to this, the proceedings of the Lok Sabha had to be adjourned twice. First till 12 noon and then till 2 pm.
Despite the uproar, the central government said that it is ready to discuss all the issues raised by the opposition. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh assured the House that the government is fully prepared for a detailed debate on matters of national security, including the Pahalgam attack.
Rajnath Singh said that I assure the MPs that we are fully ready to discuss any issue related to security, no matter how long the discussion is. Whenever the Speaker gives time, we will participate in the discussion.
He said this when opposition MPs questioned the absence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Parliament during the discussion on the Pahalgam terror attack.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said that the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) will meet at 2:30 pm, in which the list of issues for discussion will be decided.
Rijiju said that it was decided in the all-party meeting that there should be maximum discussion in this session. The government is ready for discussion, but the opposition MPs are protesting by coming into the well of the House. It is not right to protest like this on the very first day of the session. If someone wants to raise an issue, then it should be discussed under the rules.
Earlier, Speaker Om Birla adjourned the Lok Sabha proceedings till noon after the initial disruption. When the uproar continued even after the proceedings resumed, the presiding officer Jagdambika Pal had to adjourn the House proceedings again till 2 pm in the absence of Om Birla.
