In view of ongoing “Delhi Police Week”, Staff of North-West district Visited & interacted with Senior Citizens of the area.

Delhi: In its endeavour to reach out to senior citizens and to ensure their safety, well-being & care, female staff (Tejaswinis) of North-West District today (i.e 19.2.22) interacted with senior citizens of the area in view of ongoing Delhi Police Week” and sensitized them regarding their own safety & security. They also heard their problems & grievances and redressed them.

An awareness programme was also organized in the DCP Office Complex in Ashok Vihar regarding “DOs & Don’ts” that should be followed by them for their safety & security. They were informed about various schemes of Delhi Police like Eyes & Ear scheme’ and ‘Neighbourhood Watch Scheme’. They were also sensitized to take all necessary precautions to ensure their good health. Legal provisions were briefed to them in a special lecture/ session given by Adv. Seema Joshi, Senior Advocate in DLSA, Delhi Govt.

North-West Police Staff ensured meaningful participation of older persons in the digital world. Our Staff motivated them to use Senior Citizen App’ of Delhi Police so that they can use SOS Button in case of emergency. Beat staff also shared their phone numbers with senior citizens for providing timely help to them.

North-West District also organized a health check programme in the Office of DCP/North-West in Ashok Vihar from 10AM to 2PM, in association with 24*7 Care Foundation NGO Group. In this programme, routine health checkup viz. BP, Sugar, ECG etc. conducted by Doctors of Medanta Hospital, Gurgaon. Eyes Checkup camp also organized in association with ‘Centre for Sight’.

During the occasion, Birthdays of some of the senior citizens were also celebrated and fun activities like musical chair, singing songs were organized in order to make them feel good & lively. Special attention was given to those senior citizens who live alone, frequent visits are made to their residences and even necessary basic amenities are provided to them in case of need. Women staff also obtained their feedback & suggestions and responded well to their needs.

More than 200 senior citizens actively participated in these different programmes. Efforts by staff of North-West instilled confidence among senior citizens of the area and enhanced Public-Police relationship in North-West District. This gesture of interaction by staff was very much appreciated by senior citizens of North-West District.
