Iran attacks Israel, fires over 100 ballistic missiles

Jerusalem, Oct 2  The Iranian military launched a barrage of ballistic missiles at Israel on Tuesday night, targeting mainly “military and security installations”.

Media reports, citing a statement by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), have confirmed that a large number of missiles have been fired from Iran towards Israel. The IRGC has threatened to launch a second attack if Israel responds.

The IRGC described the missile attack as “revenge for the killing of Hamas top leader Ismail Haniyeh and IRGC commander Major General Sayyed Abbas Nilforoushan by the Israeli military”, Tasnim news agency reported.

It said its air force targeted important targets.

Iran fired about 180 ballistic missiles at Israel on Tuesday night, Israeli media reported.

According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Israeli air defense systems intercepted a “large number” of the 180 ballistic missiles fired by Iran before they reached their targets.

The Times of Israel quoted the IDF as saying that the US has announced its support to Israel.

Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagri told reporters that the Israeli Air Force will continue to attack its enemies.

He said that Israeli and US air defense systems worked effectively and destroyed a large number of the missiles fired by Iran on the way.

The Times of Israel quoted Daniel Hagri as saying, “Iran took a serious action tonight and is pushing the Middle East towards a deeper crisis. We will give a befitting reply at a place and time of our choosing.”
