Two people were killed and five injured in Israeli airstrike on Lebanon

Beirut. Lebanese militant group Hezbollah and military sources have said two people were killed and five others wounded in Israeli air strikes in southern Lebanon.

An Israeli air strike on a house in the southern Lebanese village of Aita al-Shaab on Thursday killed one civilian and wounded five others, Xinhua news agency reported, while Hezbollah announced that one of its fighters was killed.

Lebanese military sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, told the news agency that Israeli drones and warplanes carried out 13 airstrikes on Thursday targeting several areas in southern Lebanon, including Ikalim al-Tufah, 20 km from the Lebanon-Israel border.

Israeli artillery fired more than 600 shells at several villages in southern Lebanon, sources said.

Hezbollah announced that its fighters attacked an Israeli infantry force hiding inside a house in the al-Manara settlement, killing four soldiers, in addition to attacking several Israeli positions and the Birkat Risha site on the border.
