New Delhi, March 31 Iran has attacked a Kuwaiti oil tanker. Kuwaitis have confirmed the attack. The Dubai Media Office stated that there were no casualties. Furthermore, there were no reports of any leaks or injuries following the attack on the oil tanker in Dubai waters.
Previously, US President Donald Trump had threatened Iran with blowing up its oil facilities if the Strait of Hormuz was not reopened. The attack on the Kuwaiti oil tanker came to light following Trump’s threat.
According to information shared by US media, White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt stated that the US military will always uphold the law regarding Trump’s threat. Meanwhile, experts have warned that attacking civilian infrastructure could be a war crime.
Dubai authorities have confirmed that response teams have successfully contained the incident involving a Kuwaiti oil tanker in Dubai waters, with no leaks and no injuries reported.
Earlier, Kuwait’s state-run news agency, KUNA, reported that Iranian forces had attacked the large crude carrier Al-Salmi, docked near Dubai. The Kuwait Petroleum Corporation had warned of a possible oil leak.
According to the UK Maritime Authority (UKMTO), the ship was attacked 31 nautical miles northwest of Dubai. The attack caused a fire on board, which was later extinguished by Dubai authorities. Officials said the fire is now under control.
On the other hand, China has appealed to the US and Israel to immediately halt the ongoing attacks against Iran. The Chinese Foreign Ministry said it urges all parties to cease military action and maintain peace.
China also regretted the damage to nuclear plants and 133 historical sites. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning presented the government’s position at a press briefing on Tuesday.
He said, “The world’s cultural heritage is a priceless asset for all humanity. China deeply regrets that Iran’s cultural relics and monuments were damaged during the conflict.” He also condemned attacks on nuclear facilities, saying such actions were extremely dangerous.
