New Delhi, September 30. Israeli attacks in Lebanon have broken the back of Hezbollah. Lebanese terrorist organization chief Hassan Nasrallah was also killed in a major attack by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Friday night. Nasrallah had been enemy number one for the Jewish nation for the last several decades. Israeli air strikes have been going on against Hezbollah’s bases in Lebanon since September 20. The question arises that how did Hezbollah, which fought Israel bravely for years, surrender to the Jewish nation in just ten days.
This entire incident once again proved that Israel has a strong espionage network. Some media reports, citing the French newspaper Le Parisien, claimed that an Iranian spy had informed Israel about Nasrallah’s whereabouts before the attack. This is a very shocking revelation because Iran is not only the biggest supporter of Hezbollah but it also played a major role in setting up this organization.
According to a Reuters report, Hezbollah is currently facing a big challenge of preventing internal infiltration in the organization. This alleged infiltration gave Israel the opportunity to destroy its weapon depots, curb its means of communication and kill its senior leaders.
A major airstrike took place on Hezbollah’s headquarters on Friday night. In this attack, not only Nasrallah but half of the terrorist organization’s leadership council and top military command were wiped out.
Since the second Lebanon war in 2006, Nasrallah was rarely seen in public, and after the pager and walkie talkie explosions in Lebanon recently, he became even more alert.
The report quoted a source as saying that Nasrallah’s murder is an indication that Israeli informers have infiltrated Hezbollah.
Israel says it attacked Nasrallah by dropping dozens of bunker-busting bombs from fighter jets on Hezbollah’s underground headquarters beneath a residential building in southern Beirut.
Experts believe it was a major setback for Hezbollah and an intelligence failure. The Israelis knew Nasrallah was holding meetings and meeting other commanders. The Israelis were after him.
IDF spokesman Lt. Col. Nadav Shoshani said in a briefing on Saturday that the army had received real-time information that Nasrallah and other commanders were gathering.
Although Shoshani did not explain how he got the information, he said Hezbollah was meeting to plan attacks on Israel.
