Jammu and Kashmir: Three soldiers and a policeman injured in encounter with terrorists in Kulgam

Srinagar, Sep 28 . Three soldiers and a Jammu and Kashmir Police officer were injured in an encounter between security forces and terrorists in Kulgam district on Saturday.

Officials said that intelligence was received about the presence of terrorists in Adigam village of the district. After this, security forces including Army, Police and CRPF started a cordon and search operation in the area.

According to officials, “The security forces surrounded the terrorists. When the terrorists found themselves surrounded, they started firing at the security forces. Three Army personnel and a Jammu and Kashmir Police officer were injured in the firing. The security forces have closed all escape routes to ensure that the hiding terrorists are unable to escape. Additional forces have already reached the encounter site. The injured security personnel have been rushed to the hospital for treatment.”

It is believed that these terrorists are hardcore foreign mercenaries. These terrorists have attacked and killed the army, local police and civilians in Doda, Kathua, Rajouri, Poonch and Reasi districts of Jammu division during the last three-four months.

After ambushing the army and others in the hilly areas, the terrorists flee to the dense forests and forest areas of these hilly districts.

To thwart the attacks of the terrorists, more than 4,000 para commandos and soldiers trained in mountain warfare were deployed in the high mountain areas and dense forests of Jammu division. After this strategy of the security forces, there has been a huge reduction in terrorist attacks in these districts.
