In the year 2003, the name of Daler Mehndi and his brother Shamsher Singh came up in the pigeon-fighting case. Daler was accused of illegally taking 10 people with him to America while going for the show.

In this case, Daler Mehndi had to stay in jail for 2 years, where he was mistreated very badly. In an interview, he said that it was the worst phase, I was framed in a false case. A police officer mistreated me in the jail. He was abused. He did not get any VIP facility and he had to sleep on the floor of the jail.
