Liquor policy case: Court sent Kejriwal to judicial custody till April 15

New Delhi, . A Delhi court on Monday sent Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to judicial custody till April 15. Kejriwal has filed an application to spare three books – Bhagavad Geeta, Ramayana, and How Prime Ministers Decide – to spend time in jail.

He was produced before Rouse Avenue Court judge Kaveri Baweja after his already extended ED custody in a money laundering case related to the alleged excise policy scam ended.

On Monday, CM Kejriwal was presented in court amid heavy security. Senior advocates Vikram Chaudhary and Ramesh Gupta appeared on behalf of Kejriwal, while Additional Solicitor General (ASG) S.V. appeared on behalf of the ED. Raju argued. Demanding judicial custody, ASG Raju said that we do not want remand.

ED again said, “He (Kejriwal) is not cooperating and is giving roundabout answers.” ASG said like last time that Kejriwal is not giving the password of his phone.

The ASG told the court that the ED may seek his custody later.

After the hearing, the judge sent CM Kejriwal to judicial custody until April 15. Kejriwal has also filed an application to provide a special diet, medicines, books, and religious lockets during his stay in custody.
