Modi holds bilateral talks with Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held bilateral discussions with his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina at his residence on Friday and described the talks as “productive”.

Hasina, who arrived in New Delhi on Friday as a special invitee for the G20 summit, held wide-ranging discussions with Modi.

“Had fruitful discussions with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The progress in India-Bangladesh relations over the last 9 years has been very pleasing. Our talks covered areas like connectivity, commercial engagement and much more,” Modi wrote on Twitter after the meeting. “

Bangladesh Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen told media persons in Dhaka on Thursday that the two leaders are expected to discuss a number of important bilateral issues.

Bangladeshi media quoted him as saying that three memorandums of understanding (MoUs) on cooperation in agricultural research, cultural exchange programmes, and facilitating transactions between the Bangladeshi taka and the Indian rupee are expected to be signed ahead of the bilateral meeting.
