PM Modi praises Indian culture in the Netherlands, says traditions are gaining recognition globally

Amsterdam, May 16 Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the impressive presentation of Indian culture and traditions during his visit to the Netherlands on Saturday. He said India’s cultural heritage is constantly creating new identities on the global stage.

Sharing a glimpse of Maharashtra’s traditional performances on X, PM Modi wrote, “The glorious culture of Maharashtra came alive at a community event in the Netherlands. It was a memorable celebration of Maharashtra’s traditions, which are gaining popularity across the world.”

He also praised Assam’s cultural presentation. In another post, PM Modi said, “The glimpse of Assam’s culture added a special energy to the community event in the Netherlands. This is a shining example of Assam’s cultural spirit on the global stage.”

The Prime Minister also praised the enthusiasm of the large Indian community at the community event in The Hague. He wrote, “I am deeply touched by the immense affection and enthusiasm of the Indian community in The Hague. Their energy and connection to India are very special.”

PM Modi praised the Indian diaspora for their contribution to Dutch society and their role as a “living bridge” of India-Netherlands friendship. He also noted the Surinamese-Indian community’s historical and deep ties with India and praised their efforts to preserve their cultural heritage for generations.

Prime Minister Modi arrived in the Netherlands late Friday night as part of his multi-nation European tour. The visit aims to strengthen India’s strategic and economic partnership in Europe.

Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with the Dutch leadership in The Hague. These talks will focus on enhancing cooperation in trade, investment, semiconductors, clean energy, water management, agriculture, defense, and emerging technologies.

Discussions are also expected to include strengthening partnerships in areas such as climate action, green hydrogen, robust supply chains, digital innovation, and maritime cooperation.

According to officials, the Netherlands is an important economic partner for India in Europe, and the two countries have strong trade and investment ties. Meanwhile, the Rotterdam port is considered a major gateway to Europe for Indian exports.
