Often film makers fit unnecessary comedy, fighting, bold scenes and double meaning dialogues in their films in the desire to earn profit at the box office, but the makers and director of this film deserve praise for presenting the story of the film on the silver screen with complete honesty, perhaps this is the reason that the uncrowned king of Indian cricket Kapil Dev, after watching the trailer of this film, watched the entire film in a special screening and praised the film a lot and also gave his message in the title of the film. This film of about 130 minutes was released in theatres today, but why the film was not promoted by the makers is beyond understanding. I think that if the film had been promoted with stars in some major cities ten to fifteen days before its release, then the film would have got a good response at the box office.
The story of the film presents a positive picture of a prosperous and progressive Punjab, not like some films like Udta Punjab which show the youth of Punjab trapped in the quagmire of drugs, this is the reason why Punjab CM Bhagwat Mann has also described this film as a film that takes the youth of Punjab forward towards development.
Story Plot:
The film begins with a flashback. A young writer travelling in a car with his friend is going to gift his new book Jahankillah to his very special friend. This is where the journey of memories of the past begins. The film is the story of a Sikh youth Shinda who after completing his studies in his village is busy having fun with his friends. Shinda (Jobanpreet Singh) revolves around his friends Garvila (Jashan Kohli) and Sanju (Jeet Singh Panwar) – who after being selected in the police force come to the police training centre Jahankillah Academy and here a deep bond is formed between these three.
Here, while training under Sewa Singh (Prakash Gadhu), all three dream of seeing their families happy after completing their training and joining government service.
During training, one day Shinda gets into trouble for beating up the academy chief’s nephew. After this, when he is harassed every day by the academy chief and his nephew, he takes the big decision of becoming an IPS with the help of his friends and starts working towards realizing his dream.
Overall:
Director Vicky Kadam has presented the atmosphere of the police academy beautifully and with complete honesty. Gurbani Gill has got less footage in the role of Shinda’s girlfriend Simran but she has brought life to her character. The lead character of the film, Jobanpreet Singh, is also the writer of this film. He has brought his character to life. Jeet Singh Panwar is perfect in the role of Sanju and Jashn Kohli is amazing in the role of Ghabreela. The songs of the film are perfect for the story. Young director Vicky Kadam has brought a clean and message-giving story to the screen with complete honesty.
Of course, there are some flaws in the film. The film ends abruptly and it seems that the maker is planning to make a part 2 of the film. If you are a fan of clean and message-giving films, then do not miss this film.
