National Webinar organized by Bhagidari Jan Sahyog Samiti on Awareness about Prevention of Sex Discrimination

New Delhi: Bhagidari Jan Sahyog Samiti, a national institute of voluntary social organizations in association with Lingyas Vidyapeeth and Swami Vivekanand Subharati University inaugurating the Webinar for Online Training at National Level on The Contribution of Youth in Awareness about Prevention of Gender Discrimination, the member of National Human Rights Commission, Government of India, Jyotika Kalra said that Sex is biological, but sexual feelings come entirely from our social, religious and cultural thinking. She explained that the role of men and women as per gender were distributed to facilitate the society, that is men outside the house and women inside the home, as per their requirements.

Kaustubh Sharma, IPS Inspector General of Police, Punjab, said that it is very important to stop violent and aggressive behaviour in youth. He said that cases of crimes related to youth should not be ignored by the police. Jitendra Chadha, Director, National Service Scheme, Ministry of Youth and Sports, said that youth should work together with the objective of ‘Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam.

He said that in the coming years, The Youth of India will play a major role in gender sensitization. Danish Gupta, Chief Judicial Magistrate and Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Kaithal, highlighted the role of the Authority in gender sensitivity and said that today’s youth is a beacon of happiness and the darkness of this gender biasness can take us towards the light of respect.

Inaugural Session – Chairman Renuka Mishra, IPS, Additional Director General of Police, Uttar Pradesh Police, said that we enacted the Prevention of Sexual Harassment act at workplace, but even today, many women are deprived of justice. He said that today Gandhi’s three monkeys have to change their mindset.
You have to play the role of a conscious citizen by not sitting quietly when you see or hear anything being bad.

In his inaugural address at the technical session, District and Sessions Judge, Kanwal Jeet Arora, Member Secretary, Delhi State Legal Services Authority, described legal literacy as a powerful means of eliminating gender discrimination.

We need to change the mindset that can remove discrimination against boys and girls. Highlighting gender neutrality in the investigation of youth cases, Dr. Garima Tiwari, Assistant Commissioner, Delhi Police, said that in such cases, there must be a safe environment and the dignity of the teenager should also be taken care of.

Additional Inspector General of Police, Himachal Pradesh, Dr. Monika Bhutunguru, IPS, said that there are two ways to bring about change, one is the law, which is bringing about change legally and the second is related to bringing about social change. Today, the Sati system is extinct because a legal mandate was brought against it and the society also supported it, but dowry demand cases still exist, despite having a law.

Therefore, if we want to see change in future, we should start a campaign from today, Shyamala S. Kundar, Member, National Commission for Women, The Government of India in its presidential address of the technical session urged for the safety of women’s rights to be of paramount priority.

Chief Guest Rajender Pal Gautam, Minister for Women and Child Development, Delhi, described the rising crime cases as the biggest reason for not being gender conscious, citing the biggest role of youth in gender sensitization.

He also invited the Department of Women and Child Development, Government of Delhi to work with NGOs and various other organizations, assuring them to implement the good suggestions received by the Webinar audience.

Vijay Gaur, Moderator and General Secretary, Bhagidari Jan Sahayog Samiti, informed that thousands of persons from more then 26 states participated in the National Webinar. He further added that the welcome address at the inaugural session and technical session of the programme was delivered by Dr. Rajendra Dhar, Advisor, Lingyas Vidyapith and Brigadier Professor (Dr) V.P, Vice-Chancellor, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University.
