New Delhi: Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Delhi – Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena inaugurated the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) Flower Festival at Central Park, Connaught Place, New Delhi in the presence of NDMC Chairman – Shri Amit Yadav, Vice Chairman -Shri Satish Upadhyay, Council Member – Shri Kuljeet Singh Chahal today.
After inaugurating the two days NDMC Flower Festival, Shri Saxena appreciated the efforts of NDMC towards transforming the capital city into the ‘City of Flowers and City of Joy’ by introducing the innovative ideas to improvise the beauty of the city. He further said that during the last two years, NDMC organised different events of flowers like Tulip Festival, Rose Festival, Flower Festival in which not only Delhi but also adjoining Delhi areas people frequently visited flowering sites in New Delhi area. It is a true recognition of NDMC efforts.
LG – Delhi, Shri Saxena admires the Tulip beauty culture in the capital city introduced by NDMC in last year and this year about 5 lakh tulips are blooming across Delhi. He also informed that till date we are importing the Tulips but NDMC has established a Green House to cultivate the hybrid Tulips. In future, we will become self-reliant and can stop the importing of Tulips.
Shri Saxena suggested that a competition of Flower Show will be organised among the NDMC, MCD and DDA to create innovative ideas in the field of beautification of our capital city so we can improve every year.
Chairman NDMC – Shri Yadav informed that under the series of Spring Season celebrations, NDMC is organizing the Flower Festival this year after the success and appreciation from the large public of different walks of life for Tulip festival, Rose Festival and Music in the Park. He also said that NDMC organized a Flower Festival with the different varieties of flowers in the heart of the capital, Central Park, Connaught Place, New Delhi on 09th and 10th March, 2024.
While giving the outline of the flower show he said that this Flower Festival has been divided in 18 different sections for flowering display and decoration. The Flower Festival is open for all and entry will be free. The main attraction of the NDMC Flower Festival will be the Group of Flowering potted plants of different seasonal like Dahlia, Petunia, Pansy, Salvia, Marry Gold etc.,
Shri Yadav informed that the Flower Festival also including the Floral Figures of Animal / Birds, Colorful Floral Boards, Tray Gardens, Big size Hanging Baskets, Terrarium, Flower arrangement like Ikebana, Eastern & Western style. The park will welcome all with scintillating floral structures which includes Pyramid, Heart Shape, Selfies Point, Conical Floral Structure, Floral Cylinder etc. In the center of the park there will be a musical fountain with colorful lighting in the evening.
Shri Yadav appealed to the people to come and enjoy the fragrance and beauty of various type of flowers in this spring season and they can also purchase the horticulture items from various stalls of Nursery Plants, Bonsai, Machinery, Hydroponics, Cactus & Succulent and Herbal Plants etc. The citizens can also buy the seeds of the different varieties of the flowers, hanging material, different types of pots, fertilizers, flower decorative items from the stalls in the Flower Festival.
Acknowledging the efforts of all departments and best guidance and supervision of LG Delhi, Secretary NDMC presented the vote of thanks and assured that every target set by the Hon’ble LG and assigned any task will be achieved by the NDMC team.
