A record number of 2,023 deaths were also recorded in India in the same period. The death toll for the first time since the onset of the epidemic last year has exceeded 2,000, leaving a total of 1,82,553 deaths in the country so far. In India, 1,761 people were reported dead on Tuesday.
More than 2 lakh cases are being reported daily across the country for the last seven days. In India, 2,59,170 cases were reported on 20 April, 2,73,510 on 19 April, 2,61,500 on 18 April, 2,34,692 on 17 April, 2,17,353 on 16 April and 2,00,739 on 15 April.
During this time 16,74,57 patients were recovered. At the same time, 1,32,76,039 people have recovered with a recovery rate of 85.56 percent.
The Health Ministry said that a total of 16,39,357 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. A total of 27,10,53,392 samples have been tested so far in the country.
According to government figures, a total of 29,90,197 people were also vaccinated during this period, taking the total number of vaccines to 13,01,19,310.
According to the Health Ministry report, 62,097 new cases were reported in Maharashtra in the last 24 hours, followed by 29,574 cases in Uttar Pradesh and 28,395 cases in Delhi and 21,794 cases in Karnataka.
