North East will be India’s growth hub: Shah

Guwahati| Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Thursday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has identified the Northeast region as the ‘Growth Hub’ of India. Addressing a gathering at Battadrav Thana in Nagaon district, Shah said that the Modi government has started work to make the region a growth engine of India.

The senior BJP leader said, “To make development in the Northeast under mission mode, the Prime Minister has visited the region 35 times in the last five years. While Congress leaders and ministers visit Assam during elections.”

Shah said, “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a new era of development has started in Assam and the Northeast region. The entire Northeast region is changing. The Northeast will contribute the most to India’s GDP.”

Urging people to give the BJP government a second chance, Shah promised that his party’s vision is to make Assam intrusive-free, flood-free, corruption-free, violence-free, agitation-free and the number one state in India.

He said that former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh represented Assam, Congress-ruled Assam for 15 years (2001-2016), but did nothing for the betterment of Assam and its people.

“The BJP-led NDA government has approved 20,000 km of roads, bridges, airports, railway projects, gas and oil-based projects, AIIMS and several educational institutions including mega health institutions,” he said.
