One thief who used to visit Delhi from Tamilnadu to commit crime, arrested by the team of ps Lahori Gate

New Delhi: Keeping in view, the regular directions of senior officers regarding checking the menace of criminals and to curb street crime, police presence has been increased in the beat area of PS Lahori Gate by regular area patrolling and conducting random picket checking during odd hours to surprise the criminals. PS Lahori Gate staff has also been directed for maximum use of ROKO-TOKO strategy of Delhi Police

On 23.03.2022, a dedicated police team led by SI Devender Antil, comprising of ASI Jaiparkash, HC Harender and Ct Vipin were patrolling in the area, under the close supervision of Inspr. Vijender Rana, SHO/PS Lahori Gate and overall guidance of Sh. Akshat Kaushal, ACP/Kotwali.

During patrolling at about 07:30 PM, the above said patrolling team reached near Novelty Cinema, Puldaffrin, in the meantime they received secret information through reliable sources that a person involved in many theft/robbery cases roaming in the area and he may have knife with him. If raid be conducted within time, he might be apprehended.

Without wasting any time, the dedicated police team laid a trap at the place of information and started checking of the vehicles as well as to the suspected persons, under ROKO-TOKO strategy of Delhi Police. Consequently, the hard work of the police team bore fruits when at about 08:15 PM, the police team noticed a suspected person, who on seeing the police team tried to flee from the spot in speedy steps which raised more suspicion to the police team. Hence the police team instantly swung into action and ultimately succeeded to apprehend him after some chase strategically.

Upon his personal search, one Button operated Knife was recovered from his possession. The accused was identified as T. Sarath Kumar, age-28 years. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No.  220/22, dated 23.03.2022, u/s 25/54/59 Arms Act registered at PS Lahori Gate and investigation was taken up.

During interrogation, the accused T. Sarath Kumar, age-28 years disclosed that he purchased the recovered knife from a person namely Washim for Rs 500/- about a week ago who usually meets him at Old Delhi Railway Station. Raids were conducted at the possible hideouts of Washim but he was found absconding.

Further, the accused T. Sarath Kumar disclosed that basically he belongs to Tamilnadu state and used to come in Delhi by trains to commit crime in busy markets near the railway stations and till the success in committing thefts from the gullible people, he stays in the pavements of Railway Stations. After committing crime, he used to return to his native village for avoiding his arrest.

The accused is a habitual criminal with the history of involvement in 07 cases of Theft registered at different police stations of Delhi. He is school dropout and has studied up to 9th standard only and also drugs addict. He used to work as a labourer at his native place but due to insufficient income from this work he indulged in such criminal activities to earn easy money and fulfil his lust of drugs.

DETAIL OF ACCUSED PERSON:

  1. Sarath Kumar r/o Mill Colony Trichra Palli, Ramaji Nagar, PS Pana Goyal, Tamilnadu, age-28 years. (Previously found involved in 07 cases of Theft registered at PSs Kamla Market, Daryaganj and Connaught Place).

RECOVERY:

  • One button operated knife.

The investigation of this case is in progress and efforts are being made to affect more recovery if any.
