Lucknow, February 19 . On the second day of the budget session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly on Wednesday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath gave a befitting reply to the opposition’s allegations regarding the Mahakumbh. He said that the opposition is constantly spreading propaganda regarding the organization of Mahakumbh, whereas this event is the pride of Sanatan culture. CM Yogi read out the statements of the opposition in the House and put them in the dock.
He said that his government is determined to make the Mahakumbh historic. Ignoring the criticism of the opposition, he clearly said that this event is the pride of Sanatan Dharma and Indian culture and no laxity will be taken in celebrating it in a grand manner.
CM Yogi said that the language used by the opposition does not suit any civilized society. Attacking the leaders of the Samajwadi Party and other opposition parties, he said that these people question the grandeur of an event like Mahakumbh and try to spread confusion in the society. The opposition has been opposing the Maha Kumbh from day one. If they were really well-wishers of the public, they would have been present in the House to discuss the event, but they disrupted the House. As soon as the Maha Kumbh started, they started spreading rumours.
CM Yogi said that the opposition leaders are making baseless statements. The opposition presented many wrong facts about the Maha Kumbh and even termed it a waste of money. Referring to the statements posted on the social media handles of the opposition leaders, he said that it reflects their sanskar and mentality.
He said that that language does not suit any civilized committee. You people may have your own sanskar, you people may have your own behavior, but no civilized society and no civilized committee can ever recognize it. Maha Kumbh is not a new event, but it has been going on since the Vedic tradition. It is also mentioned in Rigveda, Atharvaveda and Shrimad Bhagwat Mahapuran. This event is the soul of Indian culture and it is inappropriate to look at it from a narrow political perspective. As soon as the Maha Kumbh began, rumours and propaganda were spread by the opposition.
He said that before the Maha Kumbh event, the National President of the Samajwadi Party started saying what is the need to give so much money and so much expansion. His statement is “Our appeal to the government is that many elderly people who are above 65 to 70 years have not been able to take a bath”, after which his statements came again. CM Yogi criticized the statement of SP President Akhilesh Yadav as well as Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s statement that thousands of people died in the stampede, TMC President Mamata Banerjee’s statement calling Maha Kumbh a Mrityukumbh.
CM Yogi said that Jaya Bachchan says that the bodies were thrown into the Ganges, Lalu Yadav says Maha Kumbh is useless. Such irresponsible statements have been given by the leaders of Samajwadi Party, Congress, RJD and TMC towards the biggest event related to Sanatan Dharma.
He said that the government has made every effort to make the Maha Kumbh grand. Our aim is to provide the best facilities to the devotees. So far more than 56 crore devotees have taken a holy dip in the Prayagraj Maha Kumbh. We are making it historic and no laxity will be tolerated in this. Those who were initially opposing the Maha Kumbh have also now quietly come to take a bath. In 2013, when the Samajwadi Party was in power, its leaders were stopped from going to Prayagraj, but this time they themselves went there and also praised the arrangements made by us. Some opposition leaders are insulting Sanatan Dharma by calling the Maha Kumbh a ‘Mrityukumbh’.
Citing the statements of the leaders of Congress, Samajwadi Party and other opposition parties, he said that this is a direct attack on the Sanatan faith. CM Yogi said, “Sanatan Dharma is the soul of India and it is the duty of every citizen to respect it. Our government is determined to give grandeur to this tradition. The protection of Sanatan Dharma is the guarantee of the protection of world humanity. People of every caste, creed and religion have reached Prayagraj Mahakumbh with reverence. When even cricketer Mohammed Shami took a bath, why are opposition leaders opposing it?”
CM Yogi said that the opposition has been opposing not only the Mahakumbh but also the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya. When the Supreme Court unanimously gave its verdict on Ram Janmabhoomi, even then parties like Samajwadi Party and Congress opposed it. Even then Ram Lalla was enthroned in Ayodhya, these people were opposing it. When we proposed that all the MLAs should go to Ayodhya for darshan, then the Samajwadi Party walked out.
Chief Minister Yogi said that before 2017, the image of Uttar Pradesh was negative, but the double engine government has changed the perception of the state. Today, the image of UP is known for development, law and order and preservation of culture. Maha Kumbh is a big example of this. The world is looking at us with respect. Challenging the opposition, he said that those who are opposing the Maha Kumbh should change their thinking. Treatment of an infected person is possible, but infected thinking cannot be treated. We are proud that this grand event is being held under the leadership of our government and we will complete it with full devotion.
