PM Modi launched the country’s first driverless metro service

NEW DELHI | Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday launched the country’s first driverless train operational service on the Delhi Metro’s Magenta Line between Janakpuri West-Botanical Garden through video conferencing. During this time he also started the National Common Mobility Card service on the Airport Express line. After the commencement of service on the Magenta Line of the Delhi Metro, the Pink Line will also introduce a driverless train by mid-2021. The RuPay Debit Card issued from any part of the country on the Delhi Airport Express line with the National Common Mobility Card can be used for travel. This facility will be made available on the entire network of Delhi Metro by 2022.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said during the address, “I had the privilege of inaugurating the magenta line about 3 years ago. Today again, on this route, I got the opportunity to inaugurate the country’s first automated metro. This shows how fast India is moving towards smart systems.

Prime Minister Modi said that today the metro is also being linked to the National Common Mobility Card. It started in Ahmedabad last year. Today it is expanding on the Delhi Metro’s AirPort Express Line.
