NEW DELHI | Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep grief over the incident of the death of 10 newborns due to a fire in a government hospital in the Bhandara district of Maharashtra. He called the incident a “heart-wrenching tragedy”. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while speaking at the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Conference, expressed condolences while referring to this incident.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “There is a heart-wrenching tragedy in Bhandara, Maharashtra, where we have lost precious young lives. My thoughts are with all bereaved families. I hope the injured are healed soon.”
In fact, a fire broke out at a government hospital in Bhandara district near Nagpur in Maharashtra at around 2 pm. As a result, ten newborns admitted to the Sick Newborn Care Unit of the district hospital died and seven children were scorched. The short circuit is being cited as the reason behind the fire. Family members have accused the hospital administration of negligence.
