Priyanka, Rahul now allowed to go to Lakhimpur

Lucknow | The Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday allowed Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and three others to visit Lakhimpur violence to meet the families of the deceased. The decision was taken after a high-level meeting with top officials.

Sources said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also spoken to Chief Minister Adityanath on this issue.

A senior official said the Gandhi family would be allowed to visit Lakhimpur along with three others.

He is likely to be accompanied by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and Congress leader Randeep Surjewala to Lakhimpur.

Baghel had to return from Lucknow airport on Tuesday as he was not allowed to meet Priyanka Gandhi in Sitapur.
