Republic Day 2023: Delhi Police bans drones, paragliders till February 15

New Delhi | Ahead of Republic Day, the Delhi Police on Monday banned the flight of sub-conventional aerial vehicles over the national capital due to security reasons. Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora has issued an order prohibiting the flying of aerial vehicles like para-gliders, para-motors, hang-gliders, UAVs, UAS, microlight aircraft, remotely piloted aircraft, hot air balloons, small powered aircraft. It was further informed that, “It has been reported that some criminal or anti-social elements or terrorists inimical to India are threatening the security of general public, dignitaries and important installations by use of sub-conventional aerial platforms like para-gliders, para-gliders.” can produce.”

The commissioner invoked his powers under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code for the ban and warned that anyone violating it would be punishable under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.

The ban will come into effect from January 18, and will remain in force for a period of 29 days i.e. till February 15 (both days inclusive), unless revoked earlier.
