New Delhi | Armed assailants shot and injured three people in an apparent incident of road rage near the Red Fort area in north Delhi. The police gave this information on Tuesday.
According to a senior police officer, three persons were shot in the incident that took place on Monday evening, while the attackers fled from the spot.
“Abid, Aman and Difraz sustained bullet injuries. They were taken to the nearest government hospital where their condition is stated to be critical,” he said.
The incident took place when Mohammad Shahid, an automobile spare parts dealer, was returning from dinner with his wife on a motorcycle. When the couple reached the Angoori Bagh area, their two-wheeler had a minor collision with another bike.
Shahid’s bike was damaged in this collision and he demanded compensation from the bike riders, which led to an argument.
The bike riders were soon joined by another man, who arrived with a few more people.
Although the local people tried to intervene, the miscreants took out their pistols and opened fire on the people.
A case of an attempt to murder has been registered with sections of the Arms Act.
Police said the attackers have been identified from the CCTV footage but they are still absconding.
Raids have been started to nab them.
