NEW DELHI | Senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel died in the hospital in Gurugram at 3.30 am on Wednesday. He was 71 years old and had been infected with the coronavirus a month earlier. His son Faisal Patel tweeted and informed about this. Patel wrote in the tweet, “With deep sorrow, I am announcing the untimely demise of my father. He died on 25/11 at 3.30 am”.
He was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Gurugram after testing positive for Covid-19 a month ago. A team of doctors was supervising him.
On Patel’s death, former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram tweeted, “I am in deep shock. It is very sad to learn that my dear friend Ahmed Patel passed away this morning. Was one of the counselors. He will be sorely missed. I pay my respects to him and express my condolences to the bereaved family members. “
