Thailand’s Opal Suchata became Miss World, India’s Nandini Gupta could not make it to the top-8

Mumbai, May 31. The grand finale of the 72nd Miss World was held on Saturday at the Hitex Exhibition Center in Hyderabad, Telangana. Thailand’s Opal Suchata was chosen as Miss World. India’s Nandini Gupta could not make it to the top-8 of the finale.

The finale began with the cultural ramp walk of the top-40 contestants. The top-40 walked the ramp in designer Archana Kochhar’s traditional dresses. During this, India’s Nandini Gupta was the show-stopper. After this, the top-20 was announced, in which Nandini also managed to reach. However, she had to be out of the top-8 race and India’s hopes suffered a major setback.

Thailand, Philippines, Poland, Ukraine, Namibia, Ethiopia, Brazil and Martinique reached the top-8 of the Miss World competition. After this, Opal Suchata of Thailand, Haset Derez of Ethiopia, Aurelie Jo of Martinique and Maja Klazda of Poland made it to the top-4.

Opal Suchata of Thailand won the grand finale of the 72nd Miss World and was elected Miss World. Haset Derez of Ethiopia was the first runner up.

It is noteworthy that in the history of 72 years, India has won the most titles of Miss World. Rita Faria was the first Indian to win Miss World. After her, Aishwarya Rai, Priyanka Chopra, Yukta Mookhey, Diana Hayden and Manushi Chillar have also been Miss World.

Nandini Gupta, who is representing India in Miss World 2025, was born on 13 September 2003 in Kota city of Rajasthan. She completed her primary education from St. Paul Senior Secondary School, Kota. Currently she is pursuing graduation in Business Management from Lala Lajpat Rai College, Mumbai. In the year 2023, she won the title of Femina Miss Rajasthan. In the same year, she also won the crown of Femina Miss India.
