The duty of the king is to protect the people and he will fulfill his duty: Mohan Bhagwat

New Delhi, April 26 . Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Saturday attended the book launch event titled ‘The Hindu Manifesto’ written by Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) senior member Swami Vigyanananda at the Prime Minister’s Museum in New Delhi. During this, he described the things mentioned in the book as important for today’s time.

‘The Hindu Manifesto’ presents a vision for national and global change from a religion-centric perspective, which is based on the knowledge of ancient Hindu texts like Vedas, Ramayana, Mahabharata, Arthashastra and Shukranitisara.

Addressing the people present at the book release program, Mohan Bhagwat said, “We have clearly mentioned here that non-violence is our nature, but our non-violence is to change people and make them non-violent. Some people will become non-violent by taking our example, but some people will not. They are so spoiled that no matter what you do, they will not change.”

Referring to Ravana, Bhagwat said, “We are not enemies of anyone and there is no hatred in our nature. Ravana was also killed for his welfare. When it was proved that Ravana was a devotee of Shiva, a knower of Vedas, a great governer. He had everything that is needed to become a good man, but the body, mind and intellect that he accepted will not allow goodness to come in him. Goodness cannot come in him by doing anything. He has only one way to become good, that is to destroy that body, mind, intellect and bring another mind, intellect and body. That is why God killed him, this destruction will not be called violence but non-violence.”

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat while giving a message said, “Non-violence is our religion, but not getting beaten by the oppressors and teaching a lesson to the hooligans is also our religion. We reform some people by giving them a little punishment, some a lot of punishment and some without any punishment. But, for the welfare of those for whom there is no other remedy, we send them to the place where they can get another basic material (body). This maintains the balance. We never insult or harm our neighbors. But, despite this, if someone resorts to evil, then what other remedy do we have? It is the duty of the king to protect his subjects and he will perform his duty.” He said, “Both are dharmas (violence and non-violence). Therefore, the Gita also preaches non-violence. The reason non-violence is preached is because Arjuna fought and died. At that time, there were people for whom there was no other solution for development. They will have to come back after changing everything (mind, intellect and body). We have a role to maintain such balance, we have also forgotten that balance.”

The book ‘The Hindu Manifesto’, designed as a blueprint for the revival of civilization, outlines eight basic ‘sutras’ or guiding principles – prosperity for all, national security, quality education, responsible democracy, respect for women, social harmony, respect for our heritage and sanctity of nature.
