Third T20: India clean sweeps Bangladesh with a thumping 133-run win

Hyderabad, October 12 . Batting first in the third and final T20 match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium here, after setting a huge target of 298 runs, India, with the help of leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi’s 3-30, on Saturday restricted Bangladesh to 164/7 and registered a thumping 133-run win. With this, India completed a 3-0 clean sweep in the series.

On the back of Sanju Samson’s brilliant first T20 International century (111 runs in 47 balls) and captain Suryakumar Yadav’s brilliant 75-run innings, India scored a record-breaking 297/6 in the stipulated 20 overs, which is the team’s highest score so far in T20 International matches. After this, Bishnoi and other bowlers restricted Bangladesh to 164/7 and gave the team a one-sided victory.

The 133-run victory margin achieved in front of the home crowd on Dussehra is also India’s third-largest victory in terms of runs in men’s T20 matches.

In Bangladesh’s innings, Mayank Yadav gave India a good start by taking the wicket of Parvez Hussain on the very first ball. While trying to pull, the ball hit his glove and went to first slip.

Washington Sundar gave Bangladesh the second blow by getting Tanjid Hasan caught at third man. After this, Bangladesh captain Nazmul Hussain Shanto tried to reverse-sweep Ravi Bishnoi’s ball, but the ball took the top edge of the bat and went straight into the wicketkeeper’s gloves.

Liton Das and Tauheed Hridoy shared a 53-run partnership. However, Das was caught out at deep midwicket off Bishnoi’s ball after scoring 42 runs in 25 balls. The leg-spinner became the joint-third Indian bowler to take the fastest 50 wickets in men’s T20 Internationals.

Mahmudullah’s final T20 innings ended on eight runs. He was holed out at long-on off Mayank.

Mahedi Hasan went for the big hit but was holed out in the deep off Nitish Kumar Reddy, with Bishnoi getting his third victim of the match by having Rishad Hussain caught at long-off.

Amidst all this, Hridoy completed his half-century by hitting Bishnoi for a six and remained unbeaten on 63.
