Today there is a hope and thought, this will be India’s century: PM Modi

New Delhi, November 16  Prime Minister Narendra Modi said during a program on Saturday that the changes that have come in the country in the last 10 years have given new energy to the culture of risk taking among the citizens of India. The confidence of the public has increased. The government has increased its expenditure on the public and has also made the public save.

PM Modi gave the mantra of ‘Progress of the People’ at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit on Saturday. He said that the people of India have handed over the capital of their trust to us for the huge goal of making a developed India.

He said that in the era of social media, false news has also spread. Even in this era, the citizens of India have faith in us. When the confidence of the public increases, its different effect is seen on the development of the country. The culture of risk taking has been common from the ancient civilization to today’s developed countries. The changes that have come in the country in the last 10 years have again given new energy to the culture of risk taking among the citizens of India.

PM Modi said that the government has eliminated gas shortage in the last 10 years. Similarly, mobile phones and Rupay cards are examples. Earlier, having a debit or credit card made people feel proud. Today, even the poor have Rupay credit and debit cards in their pockets. Today, even the poorest of the poor do online transactions. They use UPI. This is also an example of employment through investment and dignity through development.

PM Modi said that to understand the growth trajectory on which India is today, it is important to look at another approach of our government. This approach is – ‘Spend Big for People’, ‘Save Big for People’, i.e. more spending on the public and more savings for the public.

Citing an example, PM Modi said that today our capital expenditure is more than Rs 11 lakh crore. This amount is being spent on new hospitals, roads, railways, research facilities. Along with increasing spending on the public, we are also saving the public’s money. For example, the country has saved Rs 3.5 lakh crore due to direct benefit transfer. The poor have saved Rs 1 lakh crore due to free treatment under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. The citizens have saved Rs 30,000 crore due to the cheap medicines available at the Jan Aushadhi Kendra. The Ujala scheme has saved Rs 20,000 crore in the electricity bills of the people.

He said, “For the first time, 12 crore people have got clean water under the Har Ghar Nal Se Jal scheme, due to which such families have saved more than Rs 10,000 every year. 10 years ago, no one had thought of such a big change in India. Today there is a hope and thought that this century will be India’s century. For this, we will have to make many more efforts and we are also working in this direction. We have to make such world class products, such world class infrastructure, education, films etc. should be made.” PM Modi further said, “We are moving with the mantra of Progress of the People, Progress by the People, Progress for the People. 10 years ago, nobody had thought that such a big change would happen in India. India’s success has inspired us to dream bigger and fulfill it. Today there is a hope, a thought that this century is India’s century.”
