New Delhi: Keeping in view, the regular directions of senior officers regarding checking the menace of criminals and to curb street crime, police presence has been increased in the beat area of PS Kashmere Gate by regular area patrolling and conducting random picket checking during odd hours to surprise the criminals. PS Kashmere Gate staff has also been directed for maximum use of the ROKO-TOKO strategy of Delhi Police.
On 09.03.02022, the dedicated police team led by SI Devender Antil (I/c PP ISBT), comprising of SI Balwan, ASI Bal Hussain, ASI Surender Parkash, Ct Rahul and Ct Sachin were patrolling in the area, under the supervision of Inspr. Dharmender Kumar, SHO/PS Kashmere Gate and guidance of Shri Akshat Kaushal, ACP/Kotwali.
During patrolling at about 10:30 AM, the above said patrolling team reached near Metro Gate No. 6, Nityanand Marg, Kashmere Gate, Delhi. In the meantime they noticed two suspected persons riding on a motorcycle were seen coming from Shahdara side. They were signalled by the police team to stop for checking and enquiry, but despite stopping, they accelerated the speed of the motorcycle and tried to escape from the spot. However, the dedicated police team instantly swung into action and succeeded in apprehending the suspects along with the motorcycle. On enquiry, they could not give satisfactory reply about their presence to the police team.
On their personal search, one Country Made Pistol (Katta), one Button operated Knife and one mobile phone without SIM card was recovered from their possession. The accused were identified as Sameer, age-24 years and Neeraj Sharma @ Nikki, age-25 years.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 284/22, dated 09.03.2022, u/s 25/54/59 Arms Act was registered at PS Kashmere Gate and investigation was taken up.
During sustained interrogation, the accused Sameer disclosed that he purchased the recovered Country Made Pistol (Katta) for Rs 2,200/- from one Rafiq, who usually meets him near Loni Gol Chakkar, Delhi, about 08 months ago. He further disclosed that he purchased the recovered motorcycle, make Bajaj Pulsar from his known namely Mohd. Jehnish for Rs 35,000/-, about one year ago and was using the same for committing criminal activities.
On sustained interrogation, it revealed that the accused Sameer is habitual criminal with the history of involvement in 05 cases of Snatching and Theft registered at different police stations of Delhi. He is school dropout and has studied up to 6th standard only.
The accused Neeraj Sharma @ Nikki disclosed that he purchased the recovered knife in Mangal Bazar, Seemapuri, Delhi about one month ago. He is also a habitual criminal and previously found involved in 04 cases of Robbery and Theft registered at different police stations of Delhi. He is school dropout and has studied up to 9th standard only.
Both the accused persons used to drive TSR on rent basis separately and both are drugs addicts. They commit criminal activities to earn easy money and to fulfil their lust of drugs.
08 cases of Snatching registered at PS Kashmere Gate worked out with their arrest.
