New Delhi: On 08.02.2024, the complainant, namely Bunty, R/o Gali Shyam Wali, Mahavir Bazar, Aazad Market, Delhi, age 38 years, (who does work as a confectioner), approached PS Bara Hindu Rao and reported in his complaint that on 07.02.2024, he along-with his maternal aunt was returning to their home from St. Stephens Hospital, Delhi, on foot. While on the way at about 11:00 PM, when he reached near Mata Wali Gali, TeliWara, Azad Market, in the meantime, three persons suddenly came and one of them caught him from behind, choked his throat and other persons robbed his purse containing cash of Rs. 8,000/- and mobile phone, make OPPO from his pocket forcefully and fled away from the spot towards a nearby street. Due to choking of the throat, the victim lost his consciousness for a time.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 118/24 dated 08.02.2024 u/s 392/34 IPC was registered at PS Bara Hindu Rao, on the statement of the victim and the investigation has been taken up by SI Neeraj.
TEAM, INVESTIGATION & OPERATION:
In view of seriousness of the case, a team of dedicated police officials led by Inspr.Sushil Sharma, (Inspr. Law & Order), comprising SI Neeraj, SI Balbir, HC Bhupender, Ct Rahul, Ct ChunniLal and Ct Mukesh was formed in order to nab the culprits and recover the case property under the close supervision of Inspr. BishemberDayalMeena, SHO/PS Bara Hindu Rao and guidance of Shri Vijay Kumar Rastogi, ACP/Sub-Division, Sadar Bazar, Delhi.
Further, intensive search operation by mounting technical surveillance and human intelligence was put into swing to nab the accused persons. Various CCTV cameras leading to the place of occurrence were scanned. Consequently, it revealed that two accused persons had committed the offence of the present case, wherein one of them choked the complainant until he lost his consciousness. Clear photographs of both accused persons were extracted from the CCTV footage. With the continuous and tireless efforts of the team, the positions of the both accused persons were revealed near Railway Line Kutub Road, Sadar Bazar, Delhi. Efforts were made to locate them, but the team could not succeed. The dedicated police team continued their sincere efforts in search of the accused persons.
Ultimately, on the basis of technical surveillance as well as with the help of secret sources, a raid was conducted and the accused persons identified as Rohit @ Nikhil Rohiya, age 25 years and Dilip @ Raj Kumar, age 28 years, were apprehended at Tikona Park, Railway Line Kutub Road, Sadar Bazar on 12.02.2024 during the evening hours. Both were arrested in the present case of robbery as their identities have already been established through the CCTV footage, and the part of the robbed cash of Rs. 2,200/- was recovered from their possession.
INTERROGATION:
During the course of interrogation, both accused persons Rohit @ Nikhil Rohiya and Dilip @ Raj Kumar, confessed about their role in the commission of the robbery of cash and mobile phone, make Vivo from the victim near Mata Wali Gali Teli Wara, Azad Market, Delhi, on the night of 07.02.2024. Further, they disclosed that they have sold the robbed mobile phone, make OPPO to an unknown person for Rs. 1800/- who met them in the area of Nabi Karim. They also disclosed that they have spent that earned money by selling the robbed mobile phone as well as the remaining robbed cash on their fun & frolic.
Further, on sustained interrogation, both the accused persons also disclosed the commission of various offences of snatching and robbery in the area of Bara Hindu Rao as well as in adjoining areas of PS during the current and past years. Consequently, total three cases of robbery and snatching registered in PS Bara Hindu Rao have been worked out with their arrest, as in these cases, the CCTV footage clips are on file against them as pieces of evidence.
Further, on sustained interrogation, both the accused persons also disclosed that they have committed some more incidents of theft/snatching from the train passengers in the nearby area of Sadar Bazar and New Delhi Railway Station. Subsequently, four (4) mobile phones, one laptop and one Adhaar card were also recovered at their instance, which were found kept in a Jhuggi situated at Pilli Kothi, Lahori Gate, Delhi and the same are yet to be connected to crime.
Apart from above, both arrested accused persons were also wanted in a case of Robbery i.e. FIR No. 343/23 dated 03.12.2023 u/s 392/34 IPC, PS Bara Hindu Rao and Non Bail-able Warrant (NBW) against the accused Rohit has already been issued by the concerned Hon’ble Court. In this case, they had robbed the cash of Rs. 5,000/- and one mobile phone from a person in the area of Bara Hindu Rao and since then, both were absconding.
PROFILE OF ACCUSED PERSONS:
1. Dilip @ Raj Kumar R/o Vagabond of Azad Market area, Delhi, age 28 years. (Previously he was found involved in 03 criminal cases of Robbery registered in PS Bara Hindu Rao, Kashmere Gate and Kamla Market, Delhi. He basically belongs to Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. He is an illiterate and drug addict, who came in Delhi about ten years ago and started to pull the rickshaw and staying as vagabond in the area of Azad Market. He has learnt the technique of chocking neck from the dreaded criminals while he was running in judicial custody).
2. Rohit @ Nikhil Rohiya R/o Gali Ravi DassTeliWara, Azad Market, Delhi, age25 years. (His previously criminal antecedents are being verified. He is school dropout and studied up to 8th standard only, who came in the contact of his co-accused and started to consume drugs and also indulged in committing crimes).
WORKED OUT CASES:
As per the disclosure of accused persons the following three (3) cases of Robbery and Snatching registered in PS Bara Hindo Rao have been worked out with their arrest.
1. FIR No. 118/24 u/s 392/34/411 IPC, PS Bara Hindu Rao, Delhi.
2. FIR No. 10/2024 u/s 356/379/34 IPC, PS Bara Hindu Rao, Delhi.
3. FIR No. 343/2023 u/s 392/34 IPC, PS Bara Hindu Rao, Delhi.
RECOVERY:
1. Part of robbed money of Rs. 2,200/-
2. Four Mobile phones. (Two of the same are found to be reported in missing reports and other two are yet to be connected with crime).
3. One Laptop.
4. One Adhaar Card of a person namely RohitChandel, r/o Saharnpur, Uttar Pradesh.
The investigation of above said worked out casesare in progress and efforts are being made to effect the recovery of case properties.
