New Delhi | In the first phase of polling for the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, 57.79 percent polling was recorded till 5 pm on Thursday. The Election Commission of India (ECI) gave this information.
“In the first phase till 5 pm, 57.79 percent voter turnout has been recorded,” the Election Commission said.
However, the Election Commission has also clarified that these are approximate figures, as the inclusion of data of some polling stations may take time.
According to the Election Commission, till 5 pm, Agra has 56.52 percent, Aligarh 57.25 percent, Baghpat 61.25 percent, Bulandshahr 60.57 percent, Gautam Budh Nagar 53.48 percent, Ghaziabad 52.43 percent, Hapur 60.53 percent, Mathura 58.12 percent, 58.23 percent polling was recorded in Meerut, 62.09 percent in Muzaffarnagar and 61.75 percent in Shamli.
Out of the total 403 seats in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, voting is being held on Thursday for 58 seats in the first phase of elections to be held in seven phases. A total of 634 candidates are in the fray in this phase, of which 73 are women. 2.28 crore voters (including 1.04 crore women) will exercise their franchise at 26,027 polling stations in 10,853 polling stations in 11 districts.
