Chandigarh: The Punjab govt on Friday appointed Vini Mahajan, a 1987 batch Punjab cadre IAS officer, as the new Chief Secretary, replacing Karan Avtar Singh.
Vini Mahajan became the first woman Chief Secretary of the state.

Karan Avtar Singh, a 1984 batch officer, has been appointed as Special Chief Secretary of Administrative Reforms.
Winnie was working as Additional Chief Secretary in the Department of Investment Promotion, Industry and Commerce, Information Technology and Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances till now.
