KABUL: A woman journalist was shot dead by unidentified gunmen on Thursday in Nangarhar province of Afghanistan. This has been confirmed by an official. The incident took place in Jalalabad, the capital of this province. “Female journalist Malalai Mivand, working in a private radio-TV station, was gunned down by unidentified armed men in Jalalabad during the peak hours of this morning,” the official told Xinhua.
He said that efforts are being made to bring the culprits to justice. Sources in the hospital said that the driver of Miwand has also been killed in the attack.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
2 journalists have been murdered in Afghanistan since mid-November. Before Miwand, another journalist Alice Dae was killed in a bomb blast in Helmand province on 12 November.
