Srinagar | A top terrorist of banned terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba was gunned down by security forces in an encounter in Sirhama area of Anantnag on Sunday. Acting on specific information received by the police regarding the presence of terrorists in Sirhama village, the police and army launched a joint cordon and search operation, the police said.
“As the search party moved towards the suspected spot, the hiding terrorist fired indiscriminately at the search party, which in retaliation led to an encounter,” the police said.
“In the ensuing encounter, the hiding terrorist was killed and his body was recovered from the encounter site.”
The slain terrorist has been identified as Lashkar terrorist commander Nisar Ahmed Dar alias Musaib resident of Redwani Bala, Kulgam.
“As per police records the terrorist killed was a classified terrorist and was active since April 2021. He was involved in several killings of civilians and outside laborers, besides he was also involved in grenade lobbying attacks on security forces. For his terrorist activities, many cases FIR has already been registered against him in Kaimoh police station including 39/2021, 02/2022, 11/2022. He inspired gullible youth to join the path of terror.”
Inspector-General of Police, Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar has lauded the joint team and termed the elimination of terrorist Nisar Dar as a major success, as he was wanted by law to indulge in gruesome terror activities.
Incriminating material, arms and ammunition have been recovered from the encounter site.
Police have registered a case under relevant sections of law in connection with the encounter and further investigation is on.
