Mumbai| The Indian Navy has deployed three ships to rescue at least 410 people stranded on two ships off the Mumbai coast that were hit by the cyclone. Officials gave this information here on Monday. At least 273 people were reported stranded on a flowing ferry near Heera Oilfields at Bombay High Field, about 175 km from Mumbai. As soon as the information was received, the Indian Navy sent two ships INS Kochi and INS Talwar on the spot for immediate rescue.
Apart from this, another ferry GAL constructor with 137 people has also sent an SOS alert, which is stranded in the Arabian Sea about 15 km from Mumbai.
Reacting to this immediately, the Indian Navy has deployed INS Kolkata to assist the crew and others.
A Navy official said that several other ships have also been kept ready for rescue operations in the wake of cyclone Taukate, which wreaked havoc on the west coast of India.
Cyclone Tawkate has caused severe havoc in Mumbai with a strong thunderstorm at a speed of 75-85 kmph, which has damaged many trees and damaged some houses. Traffic was also disrupted on the road for a long time due to the storm.
An official said that the Meteorological Department on Monday issued an alert for strong winds of up to 120 kmph in addition to heavy rains in Mumbai.
